Welcome!

I have been photographing polocrosse over the past 10 years, but also cover some campdrafting and the odd rodeo.
I do some functions with both formal and candid photography, and the occasional wedding in a photojournalistic style. At all these events I am always on the lookout for those special images behind or alongside the main scene. I am always looking for new subjects.

TRAVELLING & TRAVELLERS

TO ALL THOSE PEOPLE MET DURING OUR NORTH  AMERICAN TRIP

This is a most sincere thank you to all those people that Barbara and I  met during our time travelling in Texas, Mexico and Canada. Each of you has enriched our experience making it much more than just a trip, and the photos that I have taken will provide reminders of our time on the road. Photos cannot replace all the personal  contacts that make such a difference when travelling.

To those with whom we shared a tour bus in Mexico, I have to add a special extra thanks for helping us cope with our inability to speak Spanish. I am going to have to work on pronouncing 'abeja', a key word in my vocabulary.  The comradeship and friendliness from so many is greatly appreciated and those challenging conversations in Spanish/English have changed our outlook on other regions of the world that we previously only knew from news reports, and the skewed view that they often give. We will look at news reports from new countries with a newfound interest.

Of course I also must thank those we met who shared my interest in bees of all types and their keeping, and all the contacts made for the future.

I will start putting up photos that I took during the trip on my website in August and progressively a collection of my bee photos will also appear. I am hoping to have enough suitable photos taken from the bus on the move in Mexico to include them as well.

As soon as photos are available my plan is to have a link in this message to a series of named folders covering our trip. All are welcome to view the images, download any of interest, or contact me with comments. If you would like higher resolution images, I am happy to send them to those who we met on our travels. The collection of photos of bees of course will continually expand if you care to call by at some future time to see. I very nearly made it back to Costa Rica in September, but faltered when I needed to be decisive.

Thanks to all for some great companionship. We would love to hear from you in the future, the invitations expressed then were serious and intended.

NOTICE

Well the time has come for a change. I will not be attending polocrosse carnivals on a regular basis in the future. The World Cup should provide people with lots of photos and a big event to remember.

I have enjoyed my contact with polocrosse, but have not been able to organise myself at the office end to do the job as it needs to be done, so it is better to stop. My move to the city changed many priorities. I became even busier, so much for 'retirement'. The hardware to do what I wanted has proven difficult to keep working, and I have developed other interests. Not a good combination to help me solve the issues that arose, like a failed computer, a failed storage hard drive and some lost data on the new system, and keep track of things at the same time as the many conflicting activities developed, from my bees to  environmental issues locally. Perhaps with a good office secretary things would have been different, but I chose not to go that way.

I have been able to retrieve most image files and some order information and will send digital files where I can. I will progressively take the mass of image files off the website starting from the oldest. If there are any images that you want, make sure you make a note of image numbers and carnival, contact me if you have any questions. Send in an order if you want. I would like to supply any further images totally in digital format, I will send the printing file to you if I receive any orders so there is no printing and postage etc involved. Broadband has made this feasible.

I will miss polocrosse, it has provided me with a lot of enjoyment over the years and the people that I have met have provided a wealth of memories. I expect I will turn up at the occasional carnival to see how the sport is developing, how all those subbies are coming on in the sport.

I have a huge database of polocrosse images which I will organise so that they are not lost, and hopefully at some stage in the future can be used by the Association if there is interest.

I will not be leaving photography, just changing to smaller targets, and some university functions that clashed so often with the Club Championships.
